For the first time since YogaBliss owner Mary Clare O’Connor devised the idea to start a studio, eight of the ten yogis and yoginis slated to teach joined together yesterday for a bit of a powwow/meet-and-greet. We sat in a circle introducing ourselves until lightbulbs started appearing above our heads.
“Didn’t we do a training together?”
“Did you ever come to a class at… ? Because I think you came to one of my classes once.”
“Do you ever go to Kripalu? Didn’t we dance together in Noon Dance and pretend to be cats?”
One by one, we all realized that our small new sangha was already beautifully intertwined. Sure, we’re all part of the 518 yoga scene in some way, but I hail from Colonie, had only been in that area of Erie Blvd once before, and I wasn’t the only non-Schenectadian. Like the six degrees of separation, everyone knew someone who knew someone who knew someone. Bam–we clicked.
Over chai and an up-for-revisions calendar of classes, the eight of us bounced ideas around about what we could do to make YogaBliss blossom. One person suggested we invite local musicians in to play during some classes. Another offered to hold partner workshops that could be a nice alternative to the traditional date night. Ideas flew around the room and were met by lit-up faces: people excited to be a part of something so fresh.
As individuals and as a group, we are all super excited to bring YogaBliss forth into the community and bring the community in through the doors of YogaBliss. We are looking forward to growing the YogaBliss sangha, getting to know the beautiful people that make it up and sharing yoga, love, and light.
At Yoga Bliss we believe in the power of embodying peace, love, grace, joy and gratitude. We practice the art of being happy by offering classes and services in a variety of modalities.
